LSBU hosts Bright Futures Challenge 2016 - a meeting of the brightest construction minds
Architectural construction and engineering students from a variety of universities came to LSBU to compete in a team-building challenge organised by the CIOBLondon South Bank University (LSBU) has hosted the first stage of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Novus Bright Futures Student Challenge 2016, which sets out to find the most promising construction managers of the future.
Teams of students from universities across the country gathered at LSBU to compete in a team-building exercise, with further opportunity to network with challenge judges, who are all experts and leaders within the construction industry.
The Novus Bright Futures Challenge is designed to put students’ knowledge and skills to the test through a series of fun and ‘live’ challenges. It gives participants an opportunity to meet like-minded students from other universities, as well as network with representatives from industry. Participants in the challenge can win a prestigious work placement, gift vouchers and the title of 'Bright Futures Champions 2016.'
A team of four LSBU students took part, with Jennifer Hardi, Course Director, BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology and Architectural Engineering in LSBU’s School of The Built Environment and Architecture commenting: “I’m so proud of our students taking part in the Bright Futures Challenge. It’s a great programme because it helps students to meet with their peers and identify role-models within the industry. Having a ready network of contacts at this stage of the students’ career is really valuable. In addition to proving their knowledge and skills through the challenge’s live tasks, this will help them to get ahead in the employment market.”
