London offers start-ups a dynamic and nurturing environment, and a wealth of business support. Ohio State University brought its MBA students to London South Bank University's (LSBU) Clarence Centre for Enterprise and Innovation to find out how the University supports entrepreneurs and local SMEs.

The students are currently studying professional and online MBAs while working at high profile US organisations in including the US Government, retail giant L Brands and global financial services firm JP Morgan Chase. The programme was coordinated by Ohio State University's Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Enterprise experts shared examples of entrepreneurship support including LSBU's EU-funded Investment Escalator programme, NatWest and local business Cameron & Wilding. LSBU graduate entrepreneurs Simon Powell and Lianne Howard-Dace also shared their experiences of starting their businesses with support from Student Enterprise at LSBU.

"It's great to see the resources, support and network available to entrepreneurs at LSBU and in London. Learning shouldn't be compartmentalised but shared through working together. It was great to hear real life stories of entrepreneurs starting up and to see the support the Investment Escalator programme offers," said Michelle Fox, Senior Sales Manager at Hospi Corporation.

"The Clarence Centre is a fantastic place for people to work on their businesses. It's refreshing to see all the help on offer to entrepreneurs at LSBU," said Blessing Wilhelmsen, Senior Business Loan Closing Coordinator at the Huntington National Bank.

"London has a dynamic and inclusive environment for supporting businesses at all stages of their development, from idea development to supporting growing and scaling. It was great to draw in entrepreneurs and businesses from our networks to share this with the delegation from Ohio State University and to hear more about their experiences of support available in Ohio and across the US," said Gurpreet Jagpal, Director of Research, Enterprise and Innovation at LSBU.
