Professor Brian Boag has been appointed the Executive Dean of the new College of Health and Life Sciences and will join London South Bank University (LSBU) in January 2025.
Professor Boag joins LSBU from the University of Greenwich where he was the Deputy Dean in the Faculty of Education, Health and Human Sciences. After an early career in nursing where he specialised in emergency care, Professor Boag moved into the higher education sector in 2001 where he was appointed Programme Leader in Emergency Care at London South Bank University. As Executive Dean of LSBU, Professor Boag will provide leadership for the College of Health and Life Sciences’ three Schools: Nursing and Midwifery, Allied and Community Health and Applied and Health Science. He will also work closely with the new schools to create and develop an outstanding student experience, research and knowledge exchange and developing the partnerships we currently have.
Professor Brian Boag said: "I am excited about starting at London South Bank University. It is a privilege to return to the university I started my career in, and I look forward to building on the many strengths and talents of the staff here and ensuring that the work of the college improves and changes lives for all.”
Professor Tara Dean, Provost of LSBU, said: “We are delighted that Professor Boag will be joining us. He will bring strategic leadership as LSBU’s Executive Dean of the new College of Health and Life Sciences. His passion for health and for supporting students, academics and partners, coupled with his senior leadership experience will support the development of the new College. Brian has an excellent track record of delivering improvement strategy in the UK and beyond to bring positive institutional change and we look forward to welcoming him to LSBU next year.”
