CHEMICAL AND ENERGY ENGINEERING STUDENTS BENEFIT FROM £2.6m SOFTWARE GIFT

PE Limited UK has donated 10 licenses of the IPM software suite - equivalent to £2,642,347.63 to London South Bank University
31 December 2024

Students enrolled in the MEng, BEng, and MSc Chemical and Energy courses benefit from comprehensive training in industry-standard software packages. This training fosters professional competency that is immediately recognized and valued by employers in the industry.

The Integrated Production Modelling (IPM) software suite is used to teach and learn fluid mechanics and multiphase flow dynamics, particularly in relation to oil and gas production systems. Engineering students utilize this software to simulate the flow of fluids—such as oil, gas, and water—through reservoirs, wells, and surface networks. The IPM suite includes engineering models at each level, specifically PROSPER, GAP, and MBAL. This integrated simulation is crucial for optimizing oil and gas production in the industry.

"Students enjoy learning to use this software, which enables them to integrate production systems," said Dr Maria Astrid Centeno, Course Leader for the MEng/BEng Chemical and Energy Engineering courses. "Since this type of software is standard in the oil and gas industry, our graduates acquire competitive skills that enhance their job prospects in the field."
