Flooding is making life for one million people in Ethiopian refugee camps even harder.
After fleeing wars, massacres and government oppression, they’re now facing the consequences of intense storms and poor drainage.
Not only has this caused health risks with contaminated water and mosquitoes, but it’s preventing much-needed aid reaching them with roads being washed away.
In this co-authored article for The Conversation, Dr Oluwatoyin Ajibade, Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering and Chartered Civil Engineer, and colleagues looked into drainage systems that can withstand local conditions.
