Announcing 'SHAPE': a new free online training resource on public engagement for commissioners in sexual health

SHAPE (Sexual Health and Public Engagement) has been created by active researchers in sexual health Dr Ava Lorenc, Research Fellow and Professor Nicola Robinson, Professor of TCM and Integrated Health at LSBU.
17 July 2013

The programme was commissioned by the London Sexual Health Programme. SHAPE is a training programme that provides everything practitioners need to know about engaging with patients and the public. Its focus is on how commissioners can proactively embed Patient and Public Engagement (PPE) in all stages of commissioning: strategic planning, procurement and management. Rather than being prescriptive, SHAPE aims to provide departure points or suggested models in response to these common issues.

The new programme has been built on Ava and Nicola's previous patient and public engagement toolkit. The SHAPE training is in the form of 12 instalments which will be posted on the website at fortnightly intervals. The first instalment is available now for download and commenting on the website.
