The results are in: National Student Survey 2024

15 July 2024

For the 3rd year running our students have told us they’re increasingly happy with their experience at London South Bank University.

The latest National Student Survey, which students complete during their final year, asks questions around their teaching, the opportunities they’re given, support they receive and their assessments and feedback.

Getting the balance right

This year, we’ve increased our scoring across all categories again. Our full time undergraduate students continue to rate our approach to learning highly; from being able to explore their ideas and concepts (scoring in the top 15% in the country), getting the balance right between both the level of self and directed study (also in the top 15%), to the way we design assessments to help them demonstrate their knowledge and skills.

Breaking the mould

We’re now in the top 1/3 of universities in the country for the assessment & feedback measure, having made sure our assessments are the right ones.

We know traditional exams aren’t always the best way to showcase the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in the working world so have introduced more authentic assessments, testing learning using real-world scenarios and practical projects.

Taking action

Our improvement year on year shows that we not only listen to feedback but take the action to improve our students’ experiences. Our Student’s Union is now in the top 20% in the country, with students feeling they represent what’s important to them, improving their time at university, and saying each module they study builds on their existing learning (top 10%).

Professor Tara Dean, LSBU Provost, said, “It’s fantastic to see our students continue to rate their experience highly year on year, especially in areas relating to greater employability. We strive to put our students at the heart of everything we do and look forward to finding new ways to keep improving for both our current and future students.”

Graduates earn more

We already know our students have the highest average salaries of all London Modern universities, one, three and five years after graduating (LEO 2024) so to have confirmation on how we’ve achieved that, directly from our students, is second to none.
