Simon joined the LSBU Group as Group CFO in October 2023. Simon has worked extensively in the Higher Education sector with previous roles at King's College London, the University of London, the Institute of Education (IoE) and the University of Kent.
Simon has led large multi-functional finance and accounting teams, delivered complex system implementations and provided financial analysis and advice on significant capital projects and business cases. Simon led the UK HE sector’s first ‘sustainable’ private placement debt raise and had a major role in taking the fourth largest UK HE endowment fossil fuel-free whilst at King’s.
A qualified Chartered Management Accountant, he has also studied leadership at Stanford University and at University College London’s IoE, where he gained his MBA in Higher Education Management. Simon also holds an MSc and a BSc from the University of Kent.
As Group CFO at LSBU, Simon has overall financial responsibility for the Group, including the University, South Bank Colleges and other companies within the group. Simon is passionate about the environmental and societal impacts of large institutions and their ability to influence the world for the better. He is the Group Executive sponsor for Sustainability.
