Prevent

Its one element of the Governments wider counter terrorism strategy. Education establishments have a duty to comply with Prevent;

Prevent is to help stop people becoming radicalised or being drawn into terrorism;

It covers all forms of radicalisation;

Prevent is part of Safeguarding and welfare and is outside of the criminal justice system.

Prevent is part of wellbeing and safeguarding each other.

It offers support and help to try to stop people taking the wrong path in life;

Everyone has a role to play. You don’t need to be an expert, only know how to flag a concern.

No single unique symptom to spot– therefore based on the individual, context and impact and not a single definitive checklist.

Talk to a Lecturer or your Manager if you are worried about a friend, another student or colleague;
