"The Festival of Creativity at LSBU celebrates the talent, achievements, and creativity of our final year students across the School of Arts and Creative Industries, and includes Performance, Music and Sound, Film & TV, Photography, Games, Media Production and Fashion Communications. Open to the public, industry professionals and / or the wider community of the University, the Festival of Creativity includes a range of events, performance and award ceremonies providing a showcase for our students as they enter their chosen profession.” - Dr Natalie Garett Brown, Dean of the School of Arts and Creative Industries.

Altered States Festival: 7th and 8th May 2024

Welcome to the Altered States festival showcasing 6 unique and innovative performances. It's 2 days of original theatre productions and performances by graduating Drama and Performance students.

Each piece has been developed from scratch from a range of experimental devising and performance making processes drawing creative and theoretical inspiration from contemporary performance makers and theorists.  Pieces range from scripted, narrative-driven productions to devised, cross-disciplinary, multi-media, physical theatre, interactive and immersive practices.

Creative Technologies Degree Show - 16th May 2024

Come and join our celebration at Borough Road and the Games Studio (K2) on May 16th. Throughout the day Games Design and Development will showcase the culmination of their week long games jam, and exhibit student work, punctuated by leading guest speakers from the industry. Journalism students will present a live stream from our Newsroom from 3pm complemented by a showreel of exciting work from Media Production students. Paula Roush will be showing at the Borough Road Gallery between 2nd May and 14th May. Paula and her students will also be displaying their photobooks on the second floor of the Hub for the duration of May. All welcome!

Music and Sound Design- 30th May 2024

Join us at the Copeland Gallery in Peckham on 30th May, 2024 from 6 pm for an evening of live electronic music and DJs to celebrate LSBU’s Music and Sound Design BA / BSc (Hons).

Immerse yourself in a mix of shoegaze, live electronics, audio visual performances and drum and bass, with performances from:

BA Acting and Performance Graduate Showcase 

Over the course of three weeks in May, BA Acting and Performance students will be presenting a season of four plays by established British playwrights directed by our resident actor-training practitioners. This graduate showcase marks the culmination of students’ undergraduate training and forms the cornerstone of their engagement with the industry - as actors, artists, makers, and professionals.

BFI Graduate Showcase Awards Ceremony - 11th June 2024

End of Year Showcase for 3rd year Film Practice students. This showcase at BFI IMAX, the country's biggest screen,  provides an opportunity to view the impressive work of our graduating students and experience the evocative, emotional, humorous, suspenseful, and awe-inspiring narratives crafted by our talented students. Awards will be presented in 10 categories by industry judges, celebrating the work of our students and their collaborators. This is a SOLD OUT event.

New York Theatre Workshop 2024 17th and 18th June

We’re thrilled to announce that the New York Theatre Workshop will be joining us in June to develop their iconic ‘Mind the Gap!’ programme with LSBU Acting students and the Southwark Playhouse Elders Company. Public performances will take place at Southwark Playhouse 17-18 June.

The Danaids Tetralogy

Work continues on the restoration of the lost Danaids tetralogy (4 plays) by ancient Greek playwright, Aeschylus with producers, Wild Yak Productions, and professional creatives including David Greig – renowned playwright and Artistic Director of the Royal Lyceum, Edinburgh. The next phase of the work will take place over 4 weeks in the summer with students working with the professional director, composer and choreographer alongside David Greig to restore the third play in the series – The Daniads. The full tetralogy will be performed at the Royal Lyecum in Edinburgh in August 2025 before embarking on the global tour with LSBU students employed as professional chorus.   Congrats to all students involved in this amazing and completely unique opportunity.

Mindfulness for the Actor

A short introduction to mindfulness context, practice and reflection through practical workshops and exercises.  This set of 3 workshops is part of Dawn Ingleson’s practice as research on the subject of actor training and the use of mindfulness within it.

The project runs weekly from 23rd May to 6th June.
