What is a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP)?

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) are dynamic collaborations between businesses, universities, and talented graduates. At London South Bank University (LSBU), we facilitate these partnerships to drive innovation, enhance competitiveness, and deliver tangible benefits for businesses of all sizes.

Where you have an innovative business idea in mind, but don’t have the in-house expertise or means to develop, we connect you to academics and funding to meet your business needs. With a 90% success rate, the KTP offers the perfect solution to meet your business needs.

How does a KTP work?

Each KTP is three-way partnership between a business, a knowledge base and a suitable qualified graduate.

KTP projects typically last between 12 and 36 months, and are tailored to the specific challenges and needs of the business. The knowledge gained during the partnership is integrated into the business, providing a foundation for continued growth and innovation beyond the project's completion.

KTP HRW - Tsu Twin information

The TsuTWin project, a current Knowledge Transfer Partnership between LSBU and HR Wallingford, aims to develop the world's first laboratory capable of generating tsunami wave trains and return flows.

Currently, no methods exist to replicate these destructive forces in a controlled environment. TsuTWin will create the blueprints of a system to generate incoming, returning, and multiple tsunami waves, providing enhanced facilities for scientists and engineers. his innovation will improve understanding of tsunami dynamics, ultimately aiding in the development of strategies to protect life and property.

Within this KTP, LSBU is able to provide academic expertise through the inclusion of Dr David McGovern and Mr Carlos Gonzalo, whilst HR Wallingford provide the initial proposal and commercial grounding.
