Network background
This project proposal brings together in a new capacity a core team of colleagues from a very well-established partnership (nearly 10 years working together) with proven track record in successful collaborative project delivery.
The team is excited to welcome a new associate partner, Da Nang University of Science and Education to this project which will bring a new group of colleagues into our partnership and extend the reach of our work into a new region of Vietnam. Professor Kendall was the lead consultant for the Research Strand of the Ministry of Education and Training Enhancing Teacher Education Programme (ETEP), so the team are well connected to key developments in teacher education in Vietnam.
More recently the team have been exploring issues of gender equality in higher education which feed usefully into a broader consideration of gender equality (e.g. the British council funded EnPower and Digidoc projects).
Teacher Education providers like those represented in this project team have a crucial role and responsibility to play in the operationalisation and scaling up of policy commitments to gender equality. MGEMS provides a unique opportunity for us to work together to ensure that the new teachers we educate have the knowledge, skills and confidence to encourage a new generation of young people to think critically about how ideas about gender structure the world around them and to re-imagine more equitable futures for themselves and their communities.
Stakeholders
The key stakeholders in MGEMS are:
- Teacher educators
- New schoolteachers
- Existing schoolteachers
- Leaders and managers (of all genders) within the Vietnamese school and teacher education sector with responsibility for teacher education and schooling.
- The wider HE community of academics (of all genders) who will benefit from becoming aware of creative and innovative learning resources that could support new and existing teachers to explore and challenge their beliefs and values and develop critical pedagogies that promote gender equalities.
