Alumni Alton Brown - Business Administration
I studied Business Administration. I now work at Active Partnerships, my current role is as Programme Manager.
I've always been passionate about education, especially business studies. Even before university, I found joy in teaching karate locally in East London. LSBU's renowned sports scholarship programme caught my attention, perfectly balancing academic excellence and athletic support.
Although my university experience presented its fair share of challenges, it was far from a smooth journey. Balancing rigorous coursework with demanding athletic training stretched me to my limits. Thankfully, LSBU's Sports Ambassador programme stepped in with invaluable mentorship and adaptable scheduling, enabling me to thrive academically and athletically.
One of the highlights of my LSBU experience was the guidance I received from my mentor, Dave Cook. Little did I know that our paths would cross again years later, highlighting the profound impact of mentorship and community.
Beyond academics, LSBU offers a vibrant social scene and cultural experiences. Exploring London's landmarks and cultural hotspots became an essential part of my university journey, providing moments of joy and self-discovery. Following graduation, my career took unexpected turns, leading me back to LSBU for postgraduate studies in development studies. Here, surrounded by passionate individuals, I found my calling in youth engagement and social action.
As an LSBU alum, I remain connected to the university community, giving back through mentorship and engagement initiatives. My journey is a testament to the power of resilience, community, and following one's passions.
To future and current LSBU students, I offer these words: embrace opportunities, pursue passions relentlessly, and never underestimate the impact you can make in the world. My LSBU journey shaped the person I am today, and I am forever grateful for the experiences and connections forged along the way.
