Eric Linden - MSc International Marketing
Why did you choose to study MSc International Marketing? Why did you decide on LSBU?
I chose the MSc International Marketing program because marketing allows me to express my creative side, and I was particularly drawn to studying it in an international context. Coming from Sweden, I had always dreamed of studying abroad and moving to London, the world’s football capital felt like a perfect fit given my passion for the sport. Initially, I found selecting a university in London overwhelming, so I reached out to a UK-based organization that assists international students in finding suitable programs and universities. They highly recommended LSBU. After conducting my own research, I found LSBU to be the right choice for me. Once I came across the MSc International Marketing program on LSBU’s website, I knew it was the perfect fit and promptly submitted my application.
Tell me about how the course staff have supported you? The course staff were incredibly supportive throughout my time at LSBU, always ensuring I had the help I needed to succeed. One of the key aspects of their support was the time they dedicated to students outside of lectures. Their approachability and willingness to assist were central to my academic journey.
What skills have you learnt or developed during your time at LSBU?
The most significant skill I developed during my studies was cultural awareness. Understanding cultural differences is fundamental to succeeding in an international context, and LSBU provides an excellent foundation in this area. The MSc International Marketing course, in particular, deepened my understanding of how cultural nuances impact marketing strategies. This skill has become indispensable, and I apply it every day in my professional life.
Have you done a work placement or any work experience?
Shortly after graduating, I began working as a Management Consultant at EY Sweden. In this role, I collaborate with both local and international clients. The MSc International Marketing course prepared me exceptionally well for this position, equipping me with the skills and knowledge needed to excel.
Where do you see yourself in the future? What are your goals?
In the long term, I see myself running my own business. However, my current focus is on growing as a consultant, gaining as much experience and honing as many skills as possible.
What advice would you give to people thinking about studying at LSBU?
If you have the opportunity to study at LSBU, don’t hesitate. As an international student, studying in London gives you a unique edge and makes you more competitive when returning to your home country. One of the best aspects of LSBU is that it doesn’t just prepare you to master your field; it also fosters tremendous personal growth.
