Jennifer Eduwu, Mental Health Nursing Student and 100m Gold Medallist

Mental Health Nursing student, Jennifer Eduwu, wins gold for the 100m sprint at the 2024 U23 British Championships.

This summer Jennifer took the spotlight at the English Athletics Championships, clinching the U23 100m English title with an outstanding performance, reinforcing her reputation as one of the UK’s most promising sprinters.

This win not only marked a significant milestone in Jennifer’s career, but also led to her second selection for the England Senior Athletics Team, where she was part of the 100m relay team at the Manchester International; securing another gold medal as part of the England team.

Jennifer has previously represented LSBU at the BUCS Outdoor Athletics Championships and is looking ahead to representing LSBU this season at both the indoor and outdoor championships.

With her continued progression, there’s no doubt she has a bright future ahead in British athletics.

Hear what Jennifer has to say about joining the LSBU Active Sports Scholarship scheme:

“My name is Jennifer Eduwu, I am 20 years old and a third-year mental health nursing student at London South Bank University (LSBU). Alongside my studies, I am a dedicated athlete specialising in the 100m sprint, as well as the 200m and 60m races. I compete at a national level, holding the title of U23 England 100m national champion, and at an international level, proudly representing England.

I believe the LSBU Active Scholarship will be incredibly beneficial, providing vital support from the university in areas such as competing in championship races while representing LSBU, as well as academic support to balance my studies with my training and race plans. It would also offer financial assistance to fund my warm-weather training camp, which is essential for preparing for the outdoor season. Additionally, the scholarship could support injury prevention, recovery, and access to valuable resources, helping me excel in both my academic and athletic pursuits.

I am deeply grateful for this opportunity and look forward to giving back by bringing recognition to LSBU in the world of athletics.”
