Miriam Rodway, Honorary Doctor of the University

Miriam Rodway is a highly accomplished and respected leader in the engineering industry. With 25 years of experience as CEO of the Institute of Refrigeration UK, Miriam has made a significant impact on the refrigeration world.

Her leadership has transformed the Institute into a prominent international entity. Miriam coordinates over 2,000 members and volunteers, as well as organising numerous committees, conferences across the UK, and webinars attended by people worldwide.

During her time at the Institute of Refrigeration, she has had to navigate change, and she has shown a relentless drive to take on real-world challenges, notably the environmental impact of the refrigeration industry. The organisation has played a pivotal role in bringing this issue to the forefront and helping the industry find outstanding technical solutions by giving experts a platform to share their knowledge widely. Through her efforts, the Institute has received numerous industry awards for its work in environmental sustainability.

Miriam is also a passionate advocate for diversity in engineering, recognising the need to bring in young people with different backgrounds and fresh ideas. Her work with the Women's Engineering Society has been instrumental in establishing networks that offer hands-on training and opportunities for women looking to break into the industry.

She is currently working on an interactive website campaign designed to pique children's interest in refrigeration. Through animated fridge circuits, she made complex concepts like liquid gas, vapour, and the principles of condensation and evaporation accessible and intriguing to young minds.
