ELEPHANT AND CASTLE
Located in one of London’s most exciting and rapidly changing regeneration areas, Elephant and Castle is full of startups, entrepreneurs, and global brands. We work with these local employers to help build our curriculum and bring real-world issues into your modules, getting you hands on in the workplace and ready to hit the ground running when you graduate.
LSBU HUB
We’ve recently invested more than £65 million into new social and teaching spaces to help with your studies and improve your wellbeing. Opening its doors in 2022, our award winning ‘LSBU Hub’ is a favourite amongst our students, with its state-of-the-art library, group and self-study areas, and numerous cafes and places to hang out with friends. Our newly built on-campus gym also offers great value for money.
IN THE HEART OF LONDON
Trains from surrounding counties are approx. £12 and take 30 minutes, or if you’re travelling by bus or tube, it’s just £5 a day with a TfL student travel card. It’s also just a 10 minute from London Waterloo and 15 minutes from London Bridge, two of the capital biggest stations.
Whether you live nearby, commuting across London or from further afield, it doesn’t have to break the bank.
FOOD AND DRINK
Get together with friends at our on-campus student bar, try out London’s first sustainable community market - Mercato Metropolitano - offering food from all over the world, or get a taste of the freshest food trends at the world-famous Borough Market, with countless stalls, bars, and restaurants. Register for UniDays and Totum to check out the discounts available at nearby restaurants, cafes, bars and takeaways options – all hail the student discount!
ART AND CULTURE
London is bustling with modern day life, but you’re also surrounded by history. Whether it's soldiers’ rations from the Great War, visceral pieces by Tracey Emin or Twelfth Night at the Globe, you don’t have to go far for your hit of culture. Creative geniuses from around the world come to south London to express themselves. The world-famous Tate Modern gallery holds over 100 years of art and is just a 15-minute walk away or hop on a tube to the West End to see a play or musical in one of 40 iconic theatres.
SIGHTSEEING
There’s so much to love in the capital. Walk to the tallest building in Europe in the time it takes the elevator to reach the top; walk over Tower Bridge in the sunshine; see the oldest prison in the country – and that’s just before lunch. Everything you could want to see is at your fingertips.
LONDON WILL INSPIRE YOU
The diversity that surrounds us means you can have it all. Use it as inspiration. South London is home to 2.8 million people, each of them with a story as unique as yours. We’re centred around careers, as well as our central location, and our industry connections and student-led community schemes will help you achieve your goals. Going to university isn’t just about the degree you leave with. It’s the experience you gain, and the friends and lecturers who guide you along the way.
GREEN SPACES
London is vibrant and busy but there’s tons of green spaces too with famous parks, natural landscapes, and hidden gems where you exercise and relax. Enjoy the views of Buckingham Palace and London Eye from St James’ Park, just 20 minutes by Tube. Elephant Park is just a ten-minute walk from campus, and as well as it being a place to eat, drink and shop, it’s the perfect place for an afternoon stroll, a place to study outdoors or just unwind with friends.
BIGGEST GROWTH AREA
We’re proud to play a part in Croydon’s regeneration. Whether it’s helping residents who attend our Chiropractic Clinic, working with exciting initiatives and startups or learning first hand from nearby NHS Trusts, what you need to succeed is all within reach. And with dedicated support and resources, informal study spaces and digitally focused teaching rooms, we’ll give you the best student experience.
TRAVEL IS EASY
We’re just a 5-10-minute walk from both East and West Croydon overground stations and just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre. London is on our doorstep with trains from London Bridge and London Victoria around £13 a day. Alternatively, you can use the bus or tram network for £5 a day, with many routes stopping outside campus!
FOOD AND DRINK
We have a great campus café but there are also plenty of local coffee shops and places to eat nearby where you can catch up with friends if you wanted to head out.
Be sure to taste flavours from all over the world at Boxpark Croydon, just a 5-minute walk from campus. It has a buzzing atmosphere and also hosts a variety of activities including karaoke, sports screenings, quiz nights and even axe throwing!
GREEN SPACES
A 15-minute walk from campus, take a lunchtime stroll with friends through the 21-acre Wandle Park. Where better to chill on a sunny afternoon? It also hosts Croydon Pridefest in the summer which is the second largest Pride festival in London!
BE PART OF A WIDER COMMUNITY
Studying with LSBU means you can also take advantage of our LSBU Hub and facilities at our Southwark campus, complete with plenty of social and learning spaces, and just 20/30 minutes away. You can join our on-campus gym with free off-peak membership and find your people at one of our many sports clubs and societies.
